Founder and MD of Space To Be

If anyone knows a thing or two about needing to find some space, it’s Space To Be’s founder and MD Carla Miller. After working in the charity sector for 10 years she felt a little burnt out so took some time off to chill out at a retreat. And that’s when she was struck by the inspiration for Space To Be. Here she explains what it’s all about…

What’s the Space To Be ethos, Carla?

“My own experience made me realise that regular relaxation and feeling good about yourself is essential for your emotional and physical health. I wanted to create a business that offered simple and effective ways for busy women to introduce a bit of space or ‘me-time’ into their daily lives. Our products have to be relevant, easy to use and, most of all, effective.”

Why hypnotherapy?

“My long daily commute to work was making me tired and stressed. I thought it would be great to develop something to turn a stressful journey into relaxing me-time. I’d tried hypnotherapy before and found it really effective so I got together with leading hypnotherapist Georgia Foster to create a range of tracks that are relevant and appealing to women like me.”

What is hypnosis? How do the Space To Be recordings work?
Hypnosis is a natural state that everyone enters into several times a day when they daydream. In this state our conscious mind starts to move into the background, and our unconscious mind starts to come forward, making us highly receptive to new learning, eg changing unwanted habits or behaviours or enhancing positive ones. It’s a very creative time and contrary to what some people believe, when you are in this state YOU are always in control. If you need to interrupt your recording at any time you can do so by simply opening your eyes.

What’s next for Space To Be?
“We’ll continue to roll out more CDs, downloads and coaching packages plus some shorter booster tracks across the different zones. Just keep your eye on the site! Or follow me on my blog.
